Volunteer firefighters from Madison and Oriskany Falls visited PreK–5 classrooms today to kick off Fire Prevention Month and share fire safety tips. Students had the opportunity to practice exiting through a window to reach a meeting place, get a close-up look at a firefighter in full gear, ask questions, and learn about smoke detectors. They also learned about “Stop, Drop, and Roll” and the importance of never leaving electronics, such as phones or tablets, in bed while charging, as they can catch fire.
Students enjoyed getting an up-close look at the fire trucks and an ambulance as well.
