Dvorak Wins Masonic Art Contest

Lauren Dvorak with Mrs. Blake

Madison Central School is pleased to announce that fifth grade student Lauren Dvorak has been selected as a first prize winner in the Family Life Essay and Art Contest held by the Valley of Utica Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons. The awards were presented at an evening ceremony on Friday, May 3rd at Hart’s Hill Inn in Whitesboro.

Dvorak claimed first prize in the fifth grade art division for her work entitled “Apple Hill Boulevard”. The contest asked participants to draw a family event that they most enjoy, and Dvorak met that criteria with a picture of her family at a plot of land they own nearby that has apple trees on the property.

“It’s one of my favorite places to be in the summer and fall seasons,” Dvorak wrote in her accompanying narrative. “It’s a place where you can go and hunt, hang out with the dogs, play with the dogs, and walk them. For me, this is my favorite place to be other than the Adirondacks.”

Dvorak was one of three Madison students to enter the contest, which featured winners from seven area schools across all divisions. Dvorak was accompanied to the ceremony by her family, and by her teacher, Lauryn Blake.

Congratulations!
