MCS Wrestlers Named Center State Conference All-Stars

Three student-athletes from Madison Central School have been recognized as members of the 2023 Center State Conference boys’ wrestling all-star teams. Junior Kyle Peavey, junior Shawn Murray, and eighth grade student Davin Peck were all chosen as honorees, as selected by the league’s coaches on Tuesday, March 7th.

While competing on a combined team with Morrisville-Eaton, these three student-athletes balanced their expanded athletic obligations with academics to achieve great campaigns on the mat. All three gentlemen qualified for the Section III Championships.

Peavey finished the year with a record of 32-9 while primarily wrestling at 126 pounds. 23 of his 32 victories were recorded by way of pinfall. He landed a fourth place finish in Division II with a spot in the consolation finals.

Murray was 27-9 overall, with 18 of his victories coming by way of pin. He wrestled matches at 138 and 145 pounds, and wrestled in the former class for the postseason. He was sixth at the Section III Division II Championships.

Both of Madison’s junior wrestlers to be named All-Stars were runners-up in the Section III Class D tournament.

Peck was 12-19 overall, but showed promise as one of the section’s youngest varsity wrestlers. He was the Section III Class D Champion at 110 pounds in his first season of varsity wrestling.

All three athletes are expected to return and seek even greater results in the 2023-24 season.
