MCS To Offer New After-School Programs

MCS Logo

The Madison Central School District would like to announce that it is launching a brand new array of after-school program offerings. The new programs are possible through support from the "Mental Health Support Grant for School Districts" that was recently awarded to the District by the New York State Office of Mental Health. They will be offered free of charge to families.

These new programs will begin on Monday, September 26th, and last for 35 weeks. A signed permission form is required to participate. Forms were recently sent home in school bags for students in grades 2-6. Please submit or return these forms as soon as you are able to. It is preferable to have the form submitted on or before Wednesday, September 21st so that we can plan appropriately for the first week.

Target grade levels for the new programs currently range from second grade to twelfth grade, depending on the activity. Additional programs are in the works, which may include opportunities for kindergarten and 1st grade students. We will communicate with about these prospective programs at a later date when we are able to do so.

Each program will run from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Students can register for the programs they would like to be a part of by using the permission form.

Parents may pick up their students beginning at 4:15 p.m. each day. There is also a late bus that will run beginning at 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

The schedule of activities is as follows:

Monday - Intramurals for 5th & 6th Grade (Small Gym and Outside)

Tuesday - Intramurals for 3rd & 4th Grade (Small Gym and Outside)

Wednesday - Mindfulness for 3rd, 4th, 5th Grade (Small Gym)

Thursday - Lego Club for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade (Grade 3 classrooms)

As a reminder, Learning Club has also returned to our after school programs, and will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for 4th through 12th Grade. It is held in the library. There is no need for a signed permission slip to attend that program.

We look forward to a fun and exciting year of growth and exploration!
