The Madison Central School District would like to congratulate junior student Isabella Champion on earning a 2023 Student Achievement Award from the Oneida-Madison-Herkimer School Boards Institute. The award was presented at the organization’s annual membership meeting held on May 11th at the Twin Ponds Golf and Country Club in New York Mills.

Over 4,000 11th grade students across three counties were eligible to receive this award, but just thirteen were selected including Champion.

The Student Achievement Award was initiated by the Institute in 2003. Recipients have demonstrated a positive attitude with strong character values. These values reflect a strong sense of initiative, responsibility, and the ability to interact with peers, faculty, and the community. The recipient performs to the best of their ability in the classroom and may have overcome significant adversity while working towards their career goals.

MCS school counselor Mike Lee nominated Isabella for this award, and she was chosen by a selection committee of four of the region's school board members through a detailed and comprehensive process.

Congratulations on this incredible honor, and we thank you for all you have done to make our school a better place!
