MADISON, NY - The Madison Central School District is proud to announce that it has won three awards in the 43rd Annual New York School Public Relations Association Communications Contest. The contest recognizes the best school communications work from New York State each year. The honors were announced on Tuesday, October 4th by the statewide association of school communicators.

Madison won awards in two categories for 2022. The District received two Awards of Honor in the area of photography, and one Award of Merit in the area of social media.

One of the winning photography submissions was titled "That Was Awesome!". It encapsulates the pure joy of two students participating in the time-honored tradition of sledding in the "Bowl" area at the front of the Madison Central School campus.

The second of Madison's award-winning photography submissions was titled "Slime Time". In the photo, physical education teacher Mr. Seth Howard gets a bucket of slime dumped over his head as a student incentive for Madison's participation in the American Heart Association's "Kids Heart Challenge".

Madison's honors in the area of social media were earned for the District's growing Facebook page. The page was created in 2020 as a means of unifying social media efforts for the District into a single platform, while also providing an accessible conduit for rapidly changing information at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, it has provided daily updates on school events and classroom happenings to a base audience of 855 followers including parents/guardians, community members, students, staff members, and alumni.

Each of these award-winning submissions came as a result of the District's partnership with the Madison-Oneida BOCES School Communications Service.

The awards will be presented on Friday, October 28th at the New York State School Boards Association Convention in Syracuse.
